Hearts Lessons We Need

Hope is rarely the feeling that one would have expected, especially after losing a child. Yet these was exactly felt by Yong, a volunteer
with Angel Hearts.

Yong, an avid photographer was invited to be involved in a keepsake photography session with parents who had just lost their angel girl. The baby was donning one of Angel Hearts’ delicately made gowns and that piqued her interest to find out more.

Angel Hearts supports grieving parents in their healing process, by providing burial gowns for their angel children. The burial gowns are repurposed from donated wedding gowns from the public, which were then deconstructed and sewn meticulously by their volunteers. It is a community that is not commonly heard about nor known, yet one that believes grieving should never be done alone.

Hope takes courage. The volunteers who helped to reconstruct these burial gowns from wedding gowns, like Yong, may have zero to minimal skills in sewing. Yet, the process of learning to recreate something so pure and innocent, really shifts one’s mindset about what is important in life. To trust the Self and with the encouragement from the community, one’s broken heart could be mended and be complete again.
